It is that wintry time of year when eating citrus fruit feels like a short vacation. This mix from Jaytram also helps. “It’s got some feel good jams, a little bit of funk, and some southern sunshine.” Click through to Bird & Whale to download a zip file of mp3s.

The Books
The Way Out“Over three days we got about 40 inches of snow. While snowed in I watched every tape in our fairly sizable collection of golf instructional videos, about 30 videos in all. It was quite a trance inducing activity, and although I am not a better golfer, I can certainly boast the best collection of golf related samples perhaps the world has ever seen. There’s a track on the new record that is about as close to straight out funk as we will probably ever get, and i’m finding that there is something very compelling about the combination of funk and golf.” - Nick Zamuto writing on The Books blog.

Express Rising
Ice StoppedExpress Rising is a moniker of Dante Carfagna, who’s record collection is something of an urban legend here in Chicago. My friends who are dj’s speak of it with awe and reverence and usually re-tell the story of how DJ Shadow made most of Endtroducing from Dante’s collection of funk and soul 45’s. I’d love to get my hands this album. Dusted Reviewed it back in 2003. XLR8 interviewed him in 2005.

Hamburger Eyes says: oh shit! new podcast! what! the latest from coldblood’s bobbylondon. lazersun. you might need some of that spf 3000 for your mind and your mind booty while chilling at the mind beach, its so chill at your mind beach..
